Sara grew up as an Antipodean child whose feet always headed outside into nature and whose head was forever in the long white clouds and whose heart was always looking up at the stars for the biggest picture.
To those ends she has always devoted her life to encapsulating and understanding the magic of our holistic nature and translating this into teaching, training and facilitating opportunities for others. Her book, “You are the Horse and You are the Rider” is the culmination and distillation of her development of psychophysiological constructs describing this energy matrix. Unique to both the worlds of psychological thought and physiological science, because these constructs combine both the psychological and physical and actually reflect who we actually are rather than maintaining a separateness! She has spent the last 17 years working in some of the most remote and extraordinary living situations on this planet in the capacity of a specialist psychotherapist with child, adolescent and family expertise. The multinational companies and embassies she has contracted with have often expected miraculous rescues of their individuals and families that they have placed into these exotic expatriate locations. Flying into the jungles or onto oil rigs to assess and develop plans literally on the fly has been her job. Prior to this work she was the founder and director of Rainbow Connexions in Whangarei, New Zealand. The clinic was awarded best practice and funded by government for many years to assist in the development of social policy undermining the Family Violence Act. Data was used from her work with children, young persons and their families who were the victims of, or witnesses to family violence amongst other things. Sara has appeared on national TV and radio shows talking about some of the very interesting aspects that children live with on a day to day basis which adults have usually forgotten and how these cornerstones of psychological and physiological development need to be revisited and integrated into our daily adult lives. |
Sara is uniquely qualified to write this book as she lived her life on the very terms it proposes and she has both the relevant specialist tertiary education in both theory and practice along with a number of physiological achievements, some of which were a first in Australasia.
Sara qualified as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with a Masters degree and prior to this had qualified as a special needs and arts teacher. She has a Master Trainer status with the Australian Institute of Sport specialising in bodybuilding and weight training and also holds a Master Trainer qualification she undertook with Frank Zane who was Mr Universe and Mr Olympia three or four times respectively. Apart from winning an International poetry award when she was 14, Sara has only been publishing magazines, seminar and workshop materials, however she will have presented aspects of the theory outlined in her book at over 200 seminar and workshop opportunities around the world to date! |
